For term 1, we did a lot of practicals on Chemistry, as that was what Science focused in Term 1. A lot of experiments were done relating to Acids and Bases, where the most common acid found in the lab was Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) << this is an "l" not "i", which I remember that we the whole class labelled the acid as Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) . There was one experiment that was to find "When Dilute Acid meet metals", that to show that Acid and Reactive Metals react to produce Hydrogen Gas. This experiment was done simply: With a test tube, pour in some HCl and add a magnesium strip into the HCl. Then we use our thumb to close the mouth of the test tube. Then after a while we use a burning splint and slowly hold it at the mouth of the test tube. "POP" sound was heard. It was then I know that "POP" is oxygen.
Term 2
For term 2, well, we did not do much. Mostly, we cannot do any Practicals. The simple reason was because we were learning on Sexual Reproductions and there is simply no way for any PRACTICALS to do so.
Actually, the Science Department did organize a trip to MacRitchie Reservoir for students to study topics relating to ecology. That was just a few weeks then. However, it rained HEAVILY. When we got to MacRitchie Reservoir, the sky darkened, and just before we knew it, it rained from 3 to 5, and which thus ended our session. Every students had their break there. If it did not rain, I think that this trip would really be a memorable experience as I have never went to a reservoir before and conduct any experiments. It could have been fun. Of course I do hope that there are more Science trips and the trip to MacRitchie Reservoir can be rescheduled again.

Term 3
For Term 3, we did experiments on LIGHT. At first flipping the Practicals file, I thought we were going to use LASERS - Those red ones. Instead, we used a device powered by a transformer (not Autobot or Decepticon, an electrical device that controls... pressure or volts I think?). The device is basically a black box with a big glowing lightbulb in the middle, and we can use panels to control whether there should be light shining "out of the box". Nevertheless, it was a new experience for all of us, to do some experiments to find out and prove that the properties of light are REAL.
